Fort Lauderdale

With one of the biggest international boat shows beginning in a few weeks, the yachting industry is in preparation for a weekend of entertainment, viewings and professionals.

Boating beginnings

The history of the show is just as interesting, with the show starting all the way back in 1959. It began as a small local show hosted by the Marine Industries Association of South Florida and began with only 13 boats on display. The event quickly gained traction, with double the number of exhibitors next year and by the time the mid-60s had rolled around, the event was in full wing with exhibitors from across the globe.

The impact.

Whilst this may only sound like a boating event to those some, the event spans over 90 acres and approximately three million square feet of exhibition space which leaves a lasting impact on the community. With over 1,300 boats, over 1,000 exhibitors and more than 100,000 annual visitors, the event reaches a variety of subcultures within boating, providing a chance for them to come together (not a bad excuse to visit sunny Florida!).

What to expect

The event hosts a variety of exhibitors including; Mega yachts, sportfishing boats, superyachts and anything else marine that you can think of! It is a great opportunity to take a look round some of the most luxurious and sought after boats in the industry. With more than 1,300 boats on display, many of which in the superyacht village, which hosts some of the world’s most luxurious and prestigious boats for visitors to view. From VIP hospitality to the waterfront entertainment, it’s a one-stop-shop for anything marine whilst also being a great chance to network alongside industry professionals. Spread across several venues in Fort Lauderdale, there is always something to see at this prestigious event!
