Breakbulk is a shipping method often used for bulky, overweight or oversized vehicles, usually heavy equipment transport.
Trans Global Logistics UK Limited offer Breakbulk heavy equipment transport across the globe for construction or plant machinery. Breakbulk may be a better alternative for heavy equipment transport compared to containerised cargo as it involves loading your commodity directly onto the vessel.
There are two primary methods of breakbulk, LoLo or Roro:
LoLo – Involves lifting your heavy equipment on/off the vessel.
RoRo – Involves rolling your heavy equipment on/off the vessel.
Dependant on your machinery, we can offer either LoLo or RoRo.
LoLo utilises powerful cranes, either positioned on the dock or built directly onto the vessel itself. To lift your equipment on and off the ship, it is often the better option for non-motorised machinery, heavy industrial parts, or dismantled equipment that cannot be driven. As it allows for precise placement within the vessel.
RoRo would be the advised method of heavy equipment transport if your equipment can be driven/moved onto the vessel as is often more economical and efficient. Vehicles such as trucks, tractors or cranes are commonly shipped with RoRo.
